Alitora and the J. David Gladstone Institute associated with the University of California, San Francisco will be collaborating to develop software that significantly advances the evaluation of genetic pathway information and evolve the study of information pathways in general.
This will be done by utilizing Wikipathways, GenMAPP and Cytoscape interfaces in conjunction with Alitora's data service. The effort will be lead by Alex Pico who is Alitora's new Chief Science Officer. Dr. Pico holds a PhD in Molecular Neurobiology and Biophysics and has over 10 years of bioinformatics experience in data mining, analysis, visualization and integration. Over the past 5 years he has led the GenMAPP pathway analysis project, managing software development and coordinating research projects involving wet lab biologists and senior programmers.
Alitora will be advised on this project by Prof. Bruce Conklin, PhD. Dr. Conklin has an illustrious career and recently he served as the founding director of the Gladstone Genomics Core and is currently the founding director of the Gladstone Stem Cell Core. Dr. Conklin is also the Associate Director of the Gladstone CIRM Scholars Training Program, and the recipient of a CIRM New Stem Cell Lines grant.
